Started Because Homeowners Deserved Better
Varsity Heating and Cooling was founded by Vlad Ivanchuk and Jake Garner with a straightforward idea: homeowners in the Puget Sound region deserved an HVAC company that treated them like people, not ticket numbers. After years working for larger outfits and watching the same pattern repeat — high-pressure sales, rotating crews, unanswered callbacks — they decided to build something different.
Based in Federal Way, Washington, Varsity is a small, owner-operated crew of six. Vlad and Jake are on every job. When you call the office, you get one of the people who will actually be in your home doing the work. That is not a marketing line — it is how the company runs.
The name "Varsity" is intentional. In sports, varsity means the starting lineup — the team that earned its spot. That is the standard they hold themselves to on every installation, every repair, every follow-up call. No JV effort. No bench players showing up to your house.
Since launching in 2024, the team has completed over 350 projects across King, Pierce, Thurston, and Kitsap counties. They specialize in heat pump installations — both ducted and ductless — because heat pumps are the future of home comfort in the Pacific Northwest, and specialization means you get someone who has done this hundreds of times, not dozens.
Every installation comes with a 10-year parts and labor warranty. Not because the manufacturer requires it, but because the team stands behind its work. If something goes wrong in year eight, Vlad and Jake are still the ones who show up.
